Lecce, nicknamed the Florence of the south for its heritage of Baroque art, is the capital of the geographical region of Salento, different in history and culture from the rest of Puglia, despite being an integral part of it and Ostuni, renamed the "White City" due to the typical coloring with lime paint that characterizes all the houses and most of the buildings of the ancient village.
